UNA mourns passing of beloved mascot, Leo III

Some sad news came out of Florence today, as the University of North Alabama announced the passing of Leo III, the school’s live lion mascot since 2002.

UNA president Dr. Ken Kitts issued this statement:

“The University campus mourns the loss of Leo III.Dena and I have treasured our time as his neighbors and hearing him roar. He will forever be a part of the UNA family, an ambassador, and a focal point of our historic and storied campus.”
