It’s the first day of March and (according to James Spann) the first day of meteorological spring—aka, the day that meteorologists recognize as the beginning of the spring season. In Huntsville, that means more daylight, warmer weather and plants blooming.

1. Huntsville Museum of Art Gala

Time: Cocktails begin at 6PM. Dinner is served at 7, and live auction begins at 8

Details: Celebrate the 31st Gala Black Tie Dinner & Live Auction with the Huntsville Museum of Art. Dinner will be catered by Chef James Boyce, the mastermind behind Huntsville staples Cotton Row, Commerce Kitchen and Grille on Main.

2. Huntsville Comic Convention

Time: 11AM-7PM both days

Details: Huntsville Comic Con 2022 will feature special guests like author Sherrilyn Kenyon, comic book legend Mike Grell and actor Michael Copon. Admission is free, but parking will be $10/vehicle.

3. Elevate the Stage College Gymnastics Meet

Time: Youth meets begin at 3:30 Friday; NCAA Meet is 1PM Sunday

Details: Elevate the Stage is a gymnastics meet featuring a youth competition and culminating in an NCAA Meet Sunday afternoon. See the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks compete for the win.

4. Community Kite Festival

Date: March 5

5. Spring Home and Garden Show

Date: March 4-6

6. UCP’s An Irish Evening
