When your friends and family are visiting for the holidays, you want to show them a good time (especially if you moved here recently and your crew hasn’t explored your new city yet).

Here are 7 places you can take a friend to explore the Rocket City together. Pick and choose places to go from this list, or follow it in order for a full day of fun.

You’ll need plenty of food to fuel your fun day of exploring Huntsville so you should start your day at The Standard Social Market. Your guest will get a great overview of the vibes downtown, and your meal will be absolutely delicious.

We’ve featured The Standard Social Market multiple times in our “Best Things We Ate This Month” round-ups for good reason. Their food is spectacular, and there’s something everyone can enjoy on the menu.

2. Tour the Space + Rocket Center

If your guest loves space, science or local history, you have to take them to The Space and Rocket Center. Over half a million people visited last year to see the museum’s collection of artifacts including:

  • The Saturn V Moon Rocket, a National Historic Landmark
  • Pathfinder, which is the world’s only full-stack space shuttle display
  • The Apollo 16 command module
  • The Skylab training module

Plus, you’ll learn about Huntsville’s incredible connections to the space industry. Tickets are available for their shuttle experiences, flight simulators and the intuitive planetarium.

Switch gears from your science brain to your artistic side when you visit Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment. Lowe Mill is a former cotton mill that was refurbished into a space for artists in the early 2000s.

Studios around Lowe Mill give you the opportunity to talk to the artists directly about their work. The space also has delicious restaurants, like Velocé Pizza. Classes and events are hosted all the time to help connect the community to the arts.
