Havoc home opener + more exciting events in the Rocket City this weekend

The last weekend of October is upon us, and this weekend is chock full of fun and exciting events. Of course with Halloween just days away, there are plenty of Halloween-themed events going on in and around Huntsville, so check out those events in our “Halloweekend” Guide.
Here are some of the cool events happening this weekend in the Huntsville area:
Live music
Huntsville really has become a mecca for live music events in the last year or so, as it seems like every weekend is full of multiple shows of varying genres. This weekend is no exception, as these are just a few of the live shows happening this weekend:
- Jason Isbell: Oct. 27, Orion Amphitheater, 7PM. Jason Isbell, one of the very first artists to play at the Orion, is back in the Rocket City.
- Brother Cane: Oct. 27, Mars Music Hall, 8PM. Alabama-boys-turned-rock-stars Brother Cane celebrates their 30 year anniversary.
- Beastie Goys: Oct. 28, The Camp at MidCity, 7PM. Huntsville’s own Beastie Boys tribute band, The BEastie Goys, will be live on stage at The Camp.
- Blind the Sky: Oct. 28, Stovehouse, 7PM. This Alabama duo is super talented and putting on a free show on the Food Garden stage at Stovehouse.
- Dawn Osborne Band: Oct. 28, VooDoo Lounge, 9PM. Dig the tunes of the super talented Dawn Osborne at one of our favorite music venues.
Sports + fitness
Between college soccer, pro hockey and a pretty awesome trail run happening this weekend, there are tons of options for sporting events:
- Alabama A&M Women’s Soccer: Oct. 27, Bulldog Soccer Field, 3PM. Cheer on the Bulldogs soccer team against arch-rival Alabama State.
- Huntsville Havoc Hockey: Oct. 27, Propst Arena, 7PM. The Huntsville Havoc play their 2023-24 season opener against Pensacola.
- Spooktacular 5K & Monster Mile: Oct. 28, Downtown YMCA, 8AM. Fleet Feet Huntsville & Madison invites you to join runners, walkers, ghosts, and goblins of all ages at the Spooktacular 5K Run and Monster Mile.
- Sweat 440 at The Camp: Oct. 28, The Camp at MidCity, 8AM. This is a free workout led by Sweat 440.
- Oak Park Challenge Trail Run: Oct. 29, Oak Park Rec Center, 8AM. Tackle this 7-mile trail run through the scenic Monte Sano Mountain.
Shows, markets, festivals
Whether you want to catch an original ballet performance, a stand-up comedy show or a fall festival, we have you covered:
- Huntsville Ballet: Oct. 27-29. Dream Theater, Fri., Oct. 27 at 7PM; Sat., Oct. 28 at 2PM and 7PM; Sun., Oct. 29 at 3PM.
- John Reep: Oct. 27-29, Stand Up Live, Fri. 9PM, 9PM, Sat. 6:30PM, 8:45PM, Sun. 7PM. Jon Reep is a nationally touring comedian whose contemporary country point of view has won over legions of fans in comedy clubs, on tv and in film.
- Fall Festival: Oct. 28, Toyota Field, 5PM. Celebrate all things autumn at Toyota Field with trick-or-treating on the Bill Penney Toyota Concourse, and the Toyota Outfield Experience will take place from 5-7 p.m. with a screening of The Haunted Mansion to follow on the videoboard at 7:15 p.m.
- Railyard BBQ Brawl: Oct. 28, Old Black Bear Brewing, 11AM-10PM. Come to downtown Madison for the 3rd Annual Railyard BBQ Brawl, featuring live music, craft beer and delicious food.
- Spooky Space Spectacular: Oct. 28, U.S. Space & Rocket Center, 5PM. The solar system is the theme for this year’s family-friendly event, which includes hands-on activities, face painting, “Spooky Skies” mini-shows in the Planetarium and more.
