The first weekend of fall is here and with that comes a bevy of cool and exciting events to experience in and around Huntsville. Whether you are looking for some awesome live music, a classy food and wine festival or some sports and fitness, we have you covered.

Orion

There’s one a week left in Huntsville Music Month, and the Rocket City has plenty of music events to check out over the next few days:

  • Hunnivega: Sept. 22, Stovehouse, 7PM. This talented trio plays some awesome alternative tunes. Check out this free show!
  • Huntsville Symphony Orchestra: Sept. 22, Von Braun Center, 7PM. Enjoy the HSO’s performance of music by Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev.
  • Brandi Carlile: Sept. 23, Orion Amphitheater, 7PM. Catch this legendary musician live at the Orion Saturday night.
  • Huntsville Women in Music – The Secret Sisters: Sept. 24, Orion Amphitheater, 6PM. Continue to celebrate Women in Music week with The Secret Sisters.
  • Jazz in the Park: Sept. 24, Big Spring PArk, 5PM. Catch this free jazz performances by headliner Ben Tankard, opening act Marqueal Jordan and pre-opening act Angela Bryan.

Exciting events in Huntsville this weekend

This weekend is full of exciting events all over town celebrating a wide array of causes — food, wine, basketball, etc. — so be sure to catch at least one of these cool parties:

  • Mike Vecchione: Sept. 22-23. Stand Up Live, 6:30PM. Mike Vecchione is an American comedian and actor whose stand-up has been described as “rapid-fire delivery.” Mike has made numerous appearances on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, Netflix, SiriusXM and more.
  • Rocket City Fair: Sept. 22-23, John Hunt Park, 11AM. The last weekend of the Rocket City Fair is this weekend, so if you haven’t been yet, check it out!
  • Crush Wine & Food Festival: Sept. 23, Big Spring Park, 11AM. As always, Crush Wine & Food Festival will showcase wine from all over the world, delicious food trucks, live music and grape-stomping.
  • Get-A-Way Skatepark Activities: Sept. 23, Get-A-Way Skatepark, 11AM. Everyone is invited to see why Huntsville’s new skate park is earning such rave reviews. Enjoy a full day of fun activities for the whole family.
  • Madison County Farmers Market: Sept. 23, 1022 Cook Avenue, 8AM. Get yourself some fresh produce at the Madison County Farmers Market.

Did you know that basketball season is coming up soon? Well, the UAH basketball season is right around the corner, and the Chargers want you to come on out to their tip-off party. That’s just one of the cool sports events happeing in the Rocket City:

  • UAH Basketball Tip-Off Event: Sept. 22, Downtown Huntsville, 7PM. Join the UAH Chargers men’s and women’s hoops teams as they celebrate the beginning of the basketball season.
  • St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer: Sept. 23, HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, 7AM. Help raise money for childhood cancer research with this 5K that includes an interactive St. Jude campus experience.
  • UAH Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony: Sept. 23, UAH Student Services Building, 5:30PM. Jon UAH as they unveil the 2023 Class of the UAH Athletics Hall of Fame, announcing seven members that will be enshrined for their extraordinary accomplishments and contributions as a Charger.
  • Autocross Event 8: Sept. 24, Milton Frank Stadium, 9AM. Enjoy some racing at Milton Frank, beginning in the morning and into the afternoon.
  • Huntsville City FC vs Chicago: Sept. 24, Joe Davis Stadium, 1PM. Cheer on your home team Huntsville City FC as they host the Chicago Fire II.
